Abstract

A new multi-output forward (MOFC) converter is proposed. It consists of four synchronous switches in secondary side for two outputs. The primary switches control the main output voltage and the synchronous switch in transformer secondary side controls the auxiliary output voltage. The main advantages of the proposed converter are that the secondary switch can achieve the zero voltage switching (ZVS) at entire load conditions and the secondary rectified voltage is a three level waveform, which can reduce the output filter. The operational principle, analysis and design considerations of the proposed converter are presented in this paper. The validity of this study is confirmed by the experimental results from dual outputs (12V18.3A and 5V-6A) prototype for PC power supply.
