Abstract

In this paper, we verify the sources of performance degradation, which are ICI (Inter-Carrier Interference) and CAI (Co-Antenna Interference), in a MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) - OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system under a time-varying channel with correlation between antennas. From the analysis, we observe that ICI is induced only in the time-varying channel, and CAI is induced due to the correlation between antennas. Thus, in a time-varying channel with correlation between the antennas, both CAI and ICI are induced. We also observe that the performance degradation due to CAI is more dominant than that arising from ICI in the MIMO-OFDM system. Simulation results under a SCM-E Sub-urban Macro MIMO channel agree well with the theoretical results.
