Abstract

In this paper, we present the optimal design methodology and process for traffic channel of M-WiMAX mobile modem ASIC. Under multipath channel environment, the proposed FXP (Fixed-point) design method is verified through the performance comparison of BER (Bit Error Rate), and PER (Packet Error Rate) between the FXP model and the FLP (Floating-point) model. Trade-offs, such as computing speed, accuracy, complexity, and performance are considered to decide the optimal bit size for HIW implementation.
