Optical see-through head mounted type Maxwellian display using waveguide and holographic optical element

Abstract

In this paper, we proposed an optical see-through head mounted type Maxwellian display using waveguide and holographic optical element (HOE). The proposed configuration is compact and can present high-resolution focused images in real time regardless of the focus of the user's eye. Preliminary experiment using collimated illumination and a concave mirror HOE confirmed that the Maxwellian display using a HOE shows always-focused high resolution images to user's eye as expected.
