Abstract

Researchers demonstrate high power density electrochemical thermocells for inexpensively harvesting low-grade thermal energy. Exciting recent progress and impressive performance has been realized for discontinuously operated thermal electrochemical cells that deploy asymmetric electrodes and operate isothermally, but at different temperatures during charge and discharge steps. The researchers describe the performance realized for the thermocell, along with the advances obtained to realize this performance.
