Abstract

In this paper, a fluid-structure interaction analysis is developed for a flapping wing. In order for the structural analysis, a co-rotational shell element is developed. It is for consideration with regard to the realistic three-dimensional wing configuration. Moreover, three-dimensional preconditioned Navier-Stokes equations are employed for the fluid analysis. Using the present FSI analysis, an explicit investigation for three-dimensional plunging wing with NACA0012 cross-section is conducted.
