Abstract

In recent decade, the natural disasters such as flood and drought have been severely occurred in Korea and this may be due to the climate change by global warming. So, Korean government intends to develop the assessment techniques for climate change effect that will both reduce and prevent the impacts of flood and drought disasters for public security. The objective of this study is to estimate flood damage in urban drainage basin due to climate change and suggest proper flood prevention measure considering climate change. We used a GCM model of CNCM3 developed by Centre National de Recherches Meteorologiques, France and A1B, A2, B1 climate scenario for the simulation of precipitation or rainfall in Korean peninsular considering climate change. Then SWMM model was used for the flood discharge simulation in an urban drainage basin called Gyeyang-Gu, Incheon city, Korea. Based on the flood discharge simulation, the flood damage analysis was performed by using MD-FDA(Multi-Dimensional-Flood Damage Analysis) developed by Ministry of Construction and Transportation, Korea. From the flood damage analysis, we could establish the proper flood prevention measures and policy considering climate change.
