Abstract

An optical wave simulation is conducted to evaluate a point spread function (PSF) of a holographic projection display (HPD) with the presence of a commercially available retroreflector (RR). An image quality degradation due to the distortion effects in HPDs with use of RR screen can be analyzed from the PSF. From simulation results, we see that the effect of geometric distortions is more dominant than diffractive distortions. Finally, a discussion on how the geometric parameters of a RR screen along with its distance to a point source affects the PSF of the system is presented.
